District 1 county commissioner candidate Lora Abcarian's name will appear on the Nov. 4 general ballot since it has been determined that she had enough valid signatures to petition onto the ballot.
She is running as an independent.
"The campaign is up and running," Abcarian said.
A total of 212 signatures were turned in on June 16, and 197 were determined by Park County Clerk and Recorder Debra Green to be valid on June 17. The deadline for turning in Green told The Flume that Abcarian needed 155 valid signatures and confirmed that Abcarian would be on the general ballot.
Abcarian said she wanted to thank all the Park County residents for taking the time to speak with her and sign her petition.
Over the course of her campaign to get signatures, she heard about a number of issues that residents are concerned with. None of them surprised her, she said.
"Road and Bridge and the county budget are essentially foremost in people's minds right now," she said.
Abcarian will have a booth at Bailey Days for people to stop by and chat. That's a tactic that has worked so far in her "people-to-people" campaign.
After that, she said, she will begin getting out and helping people get to know her.
"I will start going to everything I can go to and talk to everyone I can talk to," she said.
