"Ask the Board"

The Woodside Park Units 5 & 6 HOA Board of Directors are interested in improving communications within the membership of the association.  They understand that an annual meeting and ad hoc BOD meetings may not be convenient to everyone to attend and may not provide an opportunity to fully address all the concerns or questions you may have.  With that in mind, this on-line forum was developed to facilitate communications between the BOD and members of the Woodside Park Units 5 & 6 Homeowner's Association.

Why an on-line Question and Answer forum?  An on-line forum benefits all our members who may have a similar question.  Quite often, questions from one member benefit many others by providing new information.  In addition, it enables the BOD to establish a "Frequently Asked Questions" database for future reference.  On a more practical note, it prevents the BOD from having to address the same question more than once.

As with all public forums, we need some guidelines to keep everyone on track.  Below are a few suggestions to help keep us focused.

So, with that brief explanation and guidance, let's begin.  Simply click on the link below to send your inquiry to the Woodside Park Units 5 & 6 Board of Directors.

There is red surveyors tape on several trees and along the rear of Lot 124.  Does anyone know what is going on?  Does Lot 124 back up to Magness property or park land?

  • It backs onto Magness as does my lot.  I think the trees are ones that the owner is planning to cut down due to disease, dying or dead.

Although we are already over seven months into this calendar year, has the BOD prepared and approved a operating budget for fiscal year 2007?  If so, can members of the association receive a copy?

  • No reply.

Does the WPHOA have any liability insurance policy in effect.  If so, will this policy protect members of the WPHOA from any adverse action brought against the WPHOA?

  • We do not, and this subject has been reviewed several times over the years.  When we checked into it, we were informed that it was not only very expensive but also quite "selective" about the issues it covered.  We all have some level of coverage with our individual homeowner's insurance policies.

  • What was checked into was liability insurance for the officers & directors and that was hugely expensive. Our Vice President has talked about checking to see if there is any kind of insurance policy that the association could buy that would protect our Association.

Now that things seem to be settling down with lawsuits, can the board look into providing a unit 5 wide thistle reduction program?

  • I volunteer to walk the roads and pull them out.

  • I think at this point it best to be a "manual" thing as opposed to a pervasive chemical thing?

I know we don't like them but I'm not exactly sure why, they are pretty nice to look at right now.  I'm sure if you have any info on why these things are a scourge and what the homeowner can do about them we could post an article.  Public education I think best at this point.

I applaud the wishful thinking about the road and water issues calming down but we are not out of it yet.  It will be nice when we can focus and perhaps spend [time] on "normal" type issues such as thistles, hydro seeding, and the pine beetle.
