Henry Tolbert (sic), Rose Hill, advertises for run away slaves Sam and Sucky.

Sept 14, 1809

Rose Hill for sale, Ben Dulany, Jr., Charles Co. MD. 400 acres, 150 in wood. Healthy, well improved seat. Apply to W.H. Foote on the premises.

Henry Toler selling 200 acres of Rose Hill, on Dogue Run and the Colchester Road..

Nov 23, 1814

Henry Toler as for Rose Hill. 350 acres with very strong framed two story dwelling with four rooms and a passage on each floor, two rooms in the garrett, two in the cellar. Well underpinned with brick. Two brick chimneys and fireplaces…other useful houses, large garden, very good kitchen and laundry with two brick chimneys. With a remarkable healthfulness and beauty and a fine distant prospect of the Potomac, it charms all those who reside in it. Sale on Dec. 15th.

Deed book X2:421 James Russell gives deed of Trust to Bazil Hopkins, John Lloyd and Joseph Janney.

Jan 7, 1834

Ad for 394 acres, James Russell on premises. Two story dwelling, very substantial and of the best materials. Commanding view of the Potomac. Dogue Run passed through the property.

Deed book D3:308 James Russell to Maynadier Mason. Son of John Mason of Clermont and grandson of George Mason of Gunston Hall.

Maynadier Mason died. Will probated in April.

Mason vs. Mason Chancery Final File #62. Estate of Maynadier Mason sold Rose Hill to John P. Daingerfield for $ 10,000.

Writing in the 1950's, Mrs. Daingerfield Love stated that her grandfather John Bathurst Daingerfield bought Rose Hill after the Civil War and later gave it to her father. After his death the family moved to Alexandria.

Many of these references would have to be checked. Are not verbatim, and this is by no means a complete title search.
