Fairy Lamps - Elegance
in Candle Lighting by Bob and Pat Ruf Candle powered "fairy lamps" made Victorian and Edwardian homes glow with light, and make modern collectors glow with nostalgia. Over 800 lamps made from 1880 through the 1930s are shown in full color in this new book. The lamps range from the simplest examples given out with boxes of candles to the most extravagant chandelier assemblages made for lords, rajahs, and royalty. As part of the fascinating history of lighting devices and fuels, this work draws upon many primary sources to trace the development of fairy lamps, and catalog examples that can be found on today's market. It provides an indispensable resource for collectors and dealers, of lighting devices, pottery, and art glass. 240 pgs. 800 plus color photos. New unused condition. ($40) |

Phoenix Art Glass An Identification and Value Guide by Leland Marple Written records show that Phoenix Glass Company was the major domestic manufacturer of colored and specialty glass between 1880 and the turn of the century and within this relatively short period of time, the firm made a wide variety of art glass products in a large number of colors and effects. Since it was not signed, nearly all the art glass made by Phoenix has now lost its identity. This beautifully photographed and extensively research book identifies hundreds of Phoenix Art Glass tableware, lighting products, and novelties by matching objects to descriptions and illustrations in the trade literature. Organized by mold and optic patterns, the objects are presented in an easy to follow format. With values in the captions, this beautiful book will become an indispensable reference. At purchasers request, books will be autographed by author. (Free shipping to Fairy Lamp Club members in the US) |

Miniature
Lamps of the Victorian Era with Prices by Marjorie Hulsebus Marjorie Hulsebus is a long-standing member of our Fairy Lamp Club and the Night Light Club. As with many of us, collecting fairy lamps often extends to collecting lamps of all types, including miniatures. Marjorie has contributed significantly to the miniature lamp collecting community by publishing three reference books. They include: Miniature Victorian Lamps with Values, Price Guide for Miniature Lamps and, new for 2004, Miniature Lamps of the Victorian Era with Prices. Each of these books is a "must have" for the miniature lamp collector. Marjorie's most recent publication documents previously undocumented miniature lamps and includes many photographs contributed by our Club members, including a few examples of fairy lamps. A description of Marjorie's book is best done in her own words: "Welcome to the wonderful world of miniature Victorian era glass lamps! This beautiful reference book is sure to capture your fancy with photographs and descriptions of nearly 600 late 19th century miniature oil lamps that have not appeared in publications before. Many are variations of lamps that have not been documented until now. Styles include finger lamps, student lamps, miniature banquet lamps, figural lamps, art glass lamps and much more. To add to the perspective of understanding miniature oil lamps, estimated current values have also been provided. If you are an experienced miniature lamp collector, antique dealer, or just beginning to notice these glass lamps, this book will provide you a wealth of important information." |
