A Collector's Passion
by Jim
As many of you know, I collect fairy lamps. This little photo gallery will give you some clue of how deep my passion runs. In addition, I have added some other "smaller passions" that may capture you interest.
![]() 1972 - My first display cabinet. I bought my first fairy lamp in 1971 and I still have it. It is the dark diamond point on the second shelf, right. Pat and I "debated" several days before we bought it. After all, it was $15 and pretty extravagant on our budget. Little did we know how infectious collecting can be. |

These five snapshots are of one of my cabinets. They are all fairy-size. Now, look carefully for my "mismatched" fairy lamps or those that need matching bases. Perhaps you, or someone you know, can help me out. ;-) |

| The four photos above are all pyramid-size fairy lamps. | |
![]() Just a few pyramids and spare parts. |
![]() My only L.G. Wright fairy lamp and a few pyramids. |
![]() A few more fairy lamps, barber bottles, tumblers, tie backs, etc. |
![]() More fairy lamps, mostly Nailsea-type and a few miniature lamps. |
![]() This cabinet contains mostly pyramid-size except for the Burmese. |
![]() A very small collection of tumblers. |
![]() Pat was a calligrapher for many years. This is her collection of inkwells. |
![]() These are tiebacks. Some are probably Sandwich. |

| This is a small collection of miniature lamps with a few Glow Lights thrown in. As you can see, many of my miniatures are incomplete but they are "fun" to collect anyway. | |
![]() A small collection of barber bottles. Finding one for $20 in the 70's was not uncommon. Not today. :-( |
![]() Christmas lights, David Winter cottages, and a few odds-n-ends. |
![]() I wish I had a collection of Lithophanes, but alas, this is the only one I have other than a fairy lamp. |
![]() This oil lamp shade is painted to resemble Burmese. The decoration is similar to the Prunus pattern. I consider it to be a Smith Brothers shade. Can anyone help me with a better attribution? |
| Well, I hope you enjoyed this peek into another collector's passion. |
